CEBU - Teresita Castro, who was left paralyzed in a hit-and-run incident in Dubai where she worked as a housemaid, arrived in Cebu on Friday, according to a newspaper report.

Castro was confined at the Rashid Hospital in Dubai for almost two years; unable to talk and walk after she was hit by a motorbike on April 19, 2013.

Casto was cared for by Filipino nurses at the government-run hospital. The accident damaged her brain and she now breathes through an opening on her neck. She reportedly needs regular medication and therapy to recover from paralysis.

Sun.Star Cebu reported that Castro was flown back to Cebu on Friday with the help of concerned citizens from Asturias municipality in Cebu.

Castro arrived at the Mactan Cebu International Airport on a stretcher with her Filipino nurse and was transported to an infirmary clinic in Asturias.

She has six children, the eldest of whom is 16 years old. Her husband is reportedly unemployed.
