Philippines among top travel spots in 2015
Staff Report
DUBAI - Things are looking up for the Philippines in the tourism department, bagging the eight spot in the ranking of popular travel book guide publisher Lonely Planet for top ten countries to visit in 2015.
“The Philippines’ 7,100 plus islands have dive-tastic coral reefs, sunbathe-ready white sands, swaying palm trees and nipa-palm thatched huts, plus in 2015 the government is laying on all sorts of special events to raise the profile of the archipelago,” according to Lonely Planet.
The Philippines is one of two countries from Asia who made it in the list, with Singapore bagging the top rank.
Indeed, this year the Philippines, with its world-class hospitality and natural wonders, was one of the much-talked about destinations in the media and the airline industry. In the UAE, Friday magazine featured the Philippines in its travel section, while airlines like Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines increased more direct international flights to and from Manila. Philippine Airlines has also gained approval for direct flights to Europe and America.
