Typhoon Hagupit update, areas on alert

CEBU - [Update] Typhoon Hagupit (international code name Ruby) has further weakened and is now moving across Southern Batangas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday.
As of 4 p.m., the center of the storm was located 45 km South of Ambulong, Tanauan City, Batangas, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Hagupit is forecast to move west at 13 kph and is expected to hit 310km west of Ambulong, Tanauan City in Batangas on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday afternoon, Hagupit is forecast to hit 655km west of Ambulong, Tanauan City or leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Hagupit and the Northeast Monsoon will cause rough to very rough sea conditions over the seaboards of Luzon. Fisherfolks and those using small sea craft are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards.

Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living along the coast are warned on the occurrence of big waves associated with Storm Surge which may reach up to 2 meters.
