Saudi in court for calling Filipina ‘whore’

DUBAI - A Saudi man is on trial for getting drunk and insulting a Filipina airline employee after he missed his plane from Dubai to Cairo.
The 62-year-old Saudi national, AA, told the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours that he missed the flight after he went shopping with his brother at the airport and had lost track of time. He denied consuming alcohol without a license.
He approached the Emirates airline employee to reschedule the flight bookings. “She demanded that we give her our passports, which I did not like and said no, after which she claimed that I insulted her,” he said.
The 30-year-old Filipina, CC, said she asked for the passports so she could have them processed but that AA refused to give them to her and talked to his brother in Arabic.
“From all his talk, I only understood when he said that I was a whore, and he said it twice, and I know what this word means,” said CC.
The Filipina dropped the insult charges but AA was fined AED 2,000 for drinking alcohol.
