OEC priority for Filipino expats in Abu Dhabi
Staff Report
DUBAI - Filipinos based in Abu Dhabi will be prioritized when applying for Overseas Employment Certificates (OEC) at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) at the Philippine Embassy in the UAE capital starting in October.
Only applications from Filipinos with employment visas issued in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain will be processed from October 1 onwards, according to a statement by the Office of the Labor Attache.
Filipinos with visas issued in Dubai or other emirates but are working in Abu Dhabi can present their company ID or certificate of employment if they want to secure an OEC at the embassy.
The move is aimed at accommodating applications by Overseas Filipino Workers, particularly those coming from Al Ain, Ruwais, Madinat Zayed, Liwa and other far flung areas.
The applicants from Abu Dhabi reportedly lose their chance to apply for the OEC because of the number of applicants from other emirates. POLO can only accommodate 350 applicants per day.
