AAP Kababaihan exhibit at Kanlungan

MANILA - Celebrating the talents and collective creativity of its women artist officers and members, The Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) is mounting a group art exhibition titled "AAP Kababaihan, Exhibit sa Kanlungan" slated to be held on September 20 at the Kanlungang Sining Gallery, Rizal Park, Manila at 6pm.

Featuring varied and outstanding works by women artists, the all-female group art exhibition participated by female members of AAP. These ladies comes from various locales in Philippines and abroad. In honor of women artistry, the AAP is throwing its force to promote talented women artists in its roll.

Pieces that will be on display include 2D and 3D works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, gouache, mix media, sculpture and assemblage art.

Fidel Sarmiento, President of AAP, believes the show will spur greater interest and awareness of women artists and the role they play in the overall art scene in Philippines.

Sarmiento said, "While we have a predominantly male dominated art scene in the Philippines, we are proud to be working along our female members and fellow artists who we felt deserve equal recognition for their talent and contribution to Philippines art movement. This group art exhibit is a testament to our dedication to uplift the women members of AAP and provide them ample opportunity to be recognized in general. We hope you will join us celebrate their importance to our society and the role they play in making the art movement in Philippines even more dynamic."

Khristina Manansala, AAP Public Relations Officer and one of the main organiser of the art event, added, "It is indeed exciting that the biggest and largest art group of the Philippines (AAP) has embarked on this particular art event so put emphasis on the role women artists play in our overall art movement in the Philippines. This is a great opportunity for art enthusiasts to discover new art players whose works are quite compelling, unique and beautiful which makes this wonderful exhibit well worth visiting."

The participants to this show consists of AAP officers, members and would-be members. The art pieces will be on display from September 20 until October 20. AAP is based in Manila with 3,000 members from across the Philippines and overseas.
