AED 1,000 fine for applying makeup while driving
Staff Report
DUBAI - Are you driving, ladies? Then better not put on makeup or comb your hair while behind the wheel or you risk getting fined.
According to a circular issued by the UAE Ministry of Interior, anyone caught applying makeup or combing their hair while driving will be fined a hefty AED 1,000 and get 12 black points. Police will also seize the vehicle for one month.
Applying makeup or combing hair while driving is more dangerous than using mobile phones, said Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic of the Dubai Police.
Using phones at traffic signals
Under the UAE federal traffic law, motorists who use mobile phones even at traffic signals would be fined Dh200 and given four black points.
Police said any motorist who needs to use his or her mobile phone should stop the car at a safe place before receiving or making a call, or use hands-free mobile phone devices.
