OFW loses half a million in items at NAIA

Staff Report

MANILA - A female Filipino worker headed to Dubai lost jewelry and watches worth half a million pesos inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), police said on Wednesday.

After arriving in Dubai, the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) noticed that her luggage and her child’s luggage were damaged, and the items were missing.

According to police investigation, the woman’s luggage was tampered with after it was checked in at NAIA. Her child’s luggage was also damaged.

The victim managed to trace one of the missing watches to an online seller who was trying to sell a watch with the same serial number as the one that was stolen from her.

An entrapment operation was done with the help of the National Bureau of Investigation, and the suspect was arrested after failing to show proof of ownership of the item.
