Dad of child in poisoning case wants justice
Staff Report
DUBAI - The three-year-old Filipino girl who died from pesticide poisoning in Dubai will be buried on Sunday.
Aaliyah Bella's body was flown to Manila earlier this week, with funeral services arranged at a church in the family's hometown of Marikina.
Bella was one of five people treated for pesticide poisoning at Zulekha Hospital in Al Nahda on July 28, when toxic pesticide fumes from a neighbouring apartment leaked into their shared apartment. The incident also killed a Filipino man that day. Bella died the next day. Her body was released to her family on Wednesday.
Bella's father, Benjie, had told media he and his wife are trying to cope with the loss of their only child, and that they want justice.
Police have charged the tenant of the neighboring apartment with manslaughter, and arrested three other men for causing the accidental deaths of the two Filipinos.
