New UAE visa measures and fees

ABU DHABI – Individuals on visas sponsored by their family member may keep their residence visas even though the sponsoring family member’s visa will be cancelled.
This is part of the new measures on visas, fees and fines to be rolled out on August 1 following a recent Cabinet decision signed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The new measures also include the issuance of multiple entry permits for visit or work, study visas and entry permits for individuals seeking medical care in the UAE or attending conferences in the country.
AT A GLANCE
Cancelling a sponsor’s residence visa without cancelling visas of sponsored family members: Requires AED5,000 refundable deposit, which will be refunded once the sponsor adjusts his or her status.
Sponsorship of a family member for a female investor: Requires AED3,000 refundable deposit.
Visa sponsorship for humanitarian cases: Requires approval by the Minister of Interior and a AED5,000 refundable deposit.
Wrong information on residency applications: A fine of AED100 will be imposed on anyone who fails to accurately fill in online applications of residency department portals.
Failure to honour declaration or affidavit: If the offender is an individual, a fine of AED500 will be imposed. Erring corporate applicants will be fined AED2,000.
Failure to adjust legal status of sponsored workers on time: Errant companies will be fined AED1,000 for each worker.
Failure to report any change in company’s details: Fine of AED1,000 will be imposed.
Misuse of residency system or submission of bogus reports to residency departments: A fine of AED5,000 will be imposed on violators.
Repeated offence within a year: Repeat offenders will have their fines doubled up to AED50,000.
