UAE e-contracts to be issued within 48 hours
Staff Report
DUBAI – A switch to electronic processing of new labour contracts and labour cards will mean the e-contracts and e-cards will be issued to applicants within 48 hours, the Ministry of Labour has said.
Implemented on a trial run from the beginning of July, the new e-contracts and e-labour cards will replace the old plastic cards and paper contracts and will be required for those applying for an Emirates ID card or residency visa.
Applying for e-labour cards and contracts
Tas’heel service centres in the emirate are accepting applications for e-labour cards and contracts. Employers are urged to apply for the e-documents within 60 days of their worker’s entry into the UAE or risk a fine of Dh1,000 for each month of delay.
Once conditions are met, the Ministry of Labour will grant a preliminary approval and issue electronic permits. The data will be sent to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs to complete residency procedures.
