No plane ticket no OEC: Philippine office in Dubai
Staff Report
DUBAI – A copy of plane tickets showing proof of scheduled travel to the Philippines is now required from Filipinos applying for exit clearances in Dubai.
Without the exit clearance or Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC), any Filipino worker intending to go back to his or her workplace abroad will not be allowed to leave Philippine airports.
The new policy on OEC application and issuance at the Philippine Overseas Labour Office in Dubai was imposed following reports that some Filipinos have misused the document by sending it to relatives they are sponsoring to the UAE on a visit visa.
Some immigration officials in the Philippines reportedly require the document as proof that the sponsors are employed in the UAE, prompting a surge in demand for the exit clearance, Labour Attache Delmer Cruz told Gulf News.
