Step 2. Obtain a scheduled appointment to renew your passport. Return on your appointment date.
Step 3. Get a priority number from the officer at the Consular Section entrance. Wait for your turn.
Step 4. Proceed to processing or encoding section where you will have your details and photo taken.
Step 5. You will be handed a printout of your passport application. Check all data for accuracy or typos before signing the sheet. Any other alterations after this will incur a fee or the renewal of your passport to correct the error.
Step 6. Pay AED240 at the cashier and leave the passport application at the counter. You will be given a stub indicating the date when you can claim your passport. Do not lose this stub.
Step 7. Current waiting time for passport processing is 30 to 60 days. When claiming your new passport, bring your claim stub and your old passport for cancellation. Passports will only be released to the applicant, unless the applicant is a minor, in which case a parent may claim the passport with presentation of identification. Immediate family members may also be authorized to claim the passport, if there is a valid reason (they will need to bring an authorization letter and the original and photocopy of their ID). Passports may be claimed on the scheduled date from 3pm to 5pm.
